Reid didn't inspire you!? What, are you twelve? Senators shouldn't have to "inpsire" you to gain your vote. Harry Reid has procured more federal money for the state of Nevada than any other senator in its history. Under his leadership the democrats have passed the stimulus package, healthcare, and taxbreaks for small businesses. That guy gets shit done. He's also procured hundreds of jobs in the renewable energy sector in Nevada and is attempting to bring in thousands more. I really don't know what else you expect a senator to do short of showing up at your door with a bag of money and a job offer. Nevada's fragile economic state has more to do with the fact that we have an economy based on tourism and construction, both of which collapse in recessions. We also have no tax base and an archaic bi-annual budget. I feel like it's very irresponsible to recommend that others abstain from voting because of a distaste for negative campaign ads. If you are trully invested in the democratic process, you shouldn't be deterred by any negativity, but should rather investigate the issues for yourself. I think that you need to do more research before posting political articles because this comes off as misinformed and somewhat naive. I'm just saying that a political position based on apathy is at best irresponsible and at worst foolish.

Yeah, but think about this. We are both college grads of decent intelligence who are both good workers and yet we both work crappy jobs. A random Senator maybe couldn't have done much about improving the job market or economy in Nevada, but Reid has been there for years and years and he is the majority leader and the democrats have power in the house and the executive branch. Yet we still have probably the worst economy of any state in the nation. What has he really done to make life in Nevada better?

We do have well maintained roads, especially compared to California. So at least he's got that down. Of course, most of that comes from the state level, but we still need federal funding for the highways and such.

Negative ads don't have to be part of the political landscape. I agree they always will be, but again they encourage people to vote against someone and not for anyone. If I had seen one ad for Reid that said "Harry Reid saved a kitten from drowning just last night. You should vote for him" or something to that effect I would have voted for him. But the fact of the matter is I feel like I have given my entire voting career over to Reid and he has really not done anything to improve the quality of life in Nevada. He was made Majority leader because he wasn't seen as a threat to the guy who was going out of power before him. And since then he has maintained his presence as the most bland senator one could imagine.

Not voting for him today has made my heart soar. I still feel like shit for voting for Kerry just because I wanted Bush out of office. Kerry was awful. Just awful, and I didn't want the prince of ketchup to be our president. And by him not winning we had the economy go down the toilet, but then we got Obama. Maybe it wasn't entirely worth it, but I still love having Obama in office. I would definitely vote for him again. Reid just doesn't inspire that in me.

Yes you should vote FOR people, but you should vote FOR them based on what they've done, not what their campaign looks like. Based on Reid's accomplishments in the Senate, there are AMPLE reasons to vote for him. The fact that he is running negative campaign ads is inconsequential to his job performance.

Tiresome political campaigns (and YES, negative ads) are a reality of politics. I would encourage everyone to simply ignore ads entirely and actually do some research on WHAT THE CANDIDATES HAVE DONE. That is what you should vote on, not the campaigns. Reid has accomplished plenty to garner my support.

the initial response of a friend to the idea of going to see Guttermouth for 12 dollars: "that's expensive."
?!?!?!!

I love live music. Even if I don't really know the band that well beforehand, I will generally enjoy the show.
